MASSAI WOMEN
The Maasai people celebrate their vibrant culture through bold hues of blue and red, traditional dances, songs, and intricate, handcrafted jewelry. At Franone, we believe our vision to offer the world’s finest Tanzanite pieces is enriched by the artistry of the skilled Maasai women who live near Mererani, home to the world’s only Tanzanite mine. These talented women inspire us daily, drawing on skills honed in The Tanzanite Experience workshops and their cultural heritage to create extraordinary jewelry. We proudly showcase their designs, with all proceeds from sales going directly to these artisans, empowering them to achieve self-sufficiency and move beyond non-sustainable income sources.
This marks just the beginning of Franone’s journey toward building a self-sustainable future for the women of Mererani. Franone is dedicated to ensuring that these women have the means to support their children’s education—from primary school through to university—empowering the next generation of Maasai women to pursue their own ventures and create lasting improvements in living standards for generations to come.
The sales of their jewelry allow the women to generate income from the comfort of their own home where they can tend to other household duties
The Franone provides rough tanzanite gems, tools and other materials for the Maasai women to make these exceptional jewelry.
Through extensive workshops and a dedicated team focused on the design aspects of jewelry, Franone brings its values to life by supporting the growth of these talented women’s businesses. Together, we elevate their work and share this unique artistry with the world.
Franone is deeply committed to the community and actively contributes to its well-being. We've proudly partnered with a local school to support its mission of delivering quality education to underprivileged children. Through resource donations and volunteer efforts, we strive to empower and uplift students, fostering a positive impact and making a meaningful difference in their lives.
